Continue desktop conversations from your phone

3 minute read · Cloud & Sync

Pair Vortex Mobile with your desktop to view conversations, start tasks and answer agents while the work stays on the computer. This connection gives the phone access to all workspaces and chats in that Vortex account, including new ones. Task permissions stay the same.

Connect the phone

  1. Keep Vortex open on the computer and open Settings → Remote.
  2. Read the connection status and choose Connect phone.
  3. On the phone, open Vortex → Connect computer → Scan QR code and confirm the connection.
  4. Check that the computer lists the phone under Connected phones, then open a known conversation on the phone.

The code works once and expires at the time shown. Create a new code replaces the current offer. Do not share the code or a screenshot of it with other people.

Both devices need internet to verify your account when connecting, even on the same Wi-Fi. If the offer says local-only, keep the phone on the same Wi-Fi as the computer. Automatic remote connectivity depends on the reported service availability; a displayed code alone does not prove the phone connected.

Keep desktop work available

Keep the computer connected and Vortex open. The screen can lock or turn off, and Vortex prevents automatic sleep while a phone is paired or tasks are running. Shutting down Vortex or manually putting the computer to sleep can still interrupt access. Screen interaction can require an unlocked desktop even when ordinary background tasks remain available.

The phone controls the existing desktop workflow; it does not copy the checkout, move provider execution onto the phone or turn a local scheduled task into a hosted task. Inspect the selected chat, account, model and access mode before sending an instruction. Answer an approval in the conversation that owns it.

Remove or repair access

Under Connected phones, use Remove for the exact device. Its access ends and it must scan a new code to reconnect. An older pairing with limited workspace access can show a message to remove and reconnect it for all workspaces.

If status is unavailable, use Refresh, check the computer's connection and keep Vortex open. Expired codes need a new offer. Do not create repeated tasks because the connection was interrupted: inspect the original conversation for a completed result first.

Verify a round trip

Open a harmless existing conversation on the phone, send a small read-only request and confirm its response appears on both devices. Check that a question can be answered in the owning chat. This tests the connection more fully than scanning the QR image alone.
