System requirements
- macOS: 11 Big Sur or later.
- Windows: Windows 10 21H2 or later.
- Linux: glibc 2.31+, X11 or Wayland, libsecret for OS keychain integration.
- 200 MB disk · 4 GB RAM recommended · network access for cloud sync (optional).
The 4-step setup wizard
- Welcome — meet the modules, accept the EULA.
- Generate certificates — VORTΞXHQ creates a local Certificate Authority + per-host certificates for the built-in SMTP/HTTPS proxy. All keys stay on your machine.
- Trust CA — one click installs the CA into the OS keychain so locally-captured TLS connections “just work”. You can skip this and use plain SMTP if you prefer.
- Done — pick your startup module and you're in.
Skipping the wizard? You can re-run it from Settings → SSL Certificates → Re-run setup. Until then, the built-in SMTP server runs on plain TCP (port 2082 by default).
Cloud account (optional but recommended)
Sign in to enable real-time sync, the encrypted cloud vault, Nexuses (team workspaces), cloud SMTP credentials, and the public cluster marketplace. Without an account every feature still works locally — your data simply stays on this device.
Multi-profile
Run VORTΞXHQ with --profile=client-acme to keep that client's data, settings, and SMTP port isolated under ~/.vortex-client-acme/. The window header shows the profile badge so you never mix workspaces.
